Meet the Director
Christine St. Laurent, PhD (she/her/hers)
Dr. St. Laurent is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology. She recently completed her postdoctoral training in a sleep science laboratory (the UMass Somneuro Lab) within the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at UMass which was supported by an NIH National Research Service Award over the last two years. She earned her doctorate in kinesiology (with a focus in pediatric physical activity behavior promotion) at UMass in May of 2019 and concurrently completed an MPH degree in epidemiology, with a research focus on physical activity and pregnancy. In 2005, she completed an M.S. degree in kinesiology from James Madison University with double concentrations in exercise physiology and nutrition/physical activity, with a research focus on the physiological responses to exercise during pregnancy. Prior to renewing her academic career, she worked as a health and fitness professional in management and leadership positions in various settings.

Over 20 students each semester contribute to our research projects as research assistants and project coordinators.
We have practicum students engaging with community schools to promote greater physical activity among students.
